Lesson one in lying bed of four-inch nails like a Fakir ... fake it.
Actor Michael Mackenzie who plays the wizard Tarot in Ace of Wands lay carefully on the trestle to demonstrate mind over matter on this week's programme and it buckled under him.
The bed was a plastic mock-up and couldn't take his weight.
Lesson two was a bit more painful: he had to resort to a real bed of more than 600 four-inch steel nails.
Mackenzie (whose wife, incidentally, is Ann Holloway of Father, Dear Father) said: "The nails were blunted a bit, but were still very painful: the idea is to distribute your weight, but I don't advise young viewers to try."
