Abracadabra! Its Mike Mackenzie and Judy Loe weaving their Ace of Wands spell in the fashion world...
IN FASHION WITH JILL WHIFFING
MICHAEL MACKENZIE AND JUDY LOE play the 20th century magician Tarot and his assistant, in Thames Television's Ace of Wands on Wednesdays.
And the two seem to have a magic touch when it comes to choosing clothes. The summer fashion theme is still "the bolder the better". And just look at the bold range of colours selected by this slim and dashing pair.
It was Mackenzie's idea
to team up patchwork with patchwork- in this case a matching shirt and jacket
- to contrast with cream calico pants. And pictured beside the calculated cheek
of Judy's outfit, his choice looks positively restrained.
It needs a special brand of boldness, as well as good-looking legs, to put on what Judy herself terms a "principal-girl rig"; green tights, red ankle-straps and striped, patched sweater and shorts.
The matching gangster suits, with shoulders as sharp as you like, are precisely what the trendiest people are wearing now. Girls may not be able to wear men's suits - their shape is still different - but both sexes should seek out bright colours and lightweight materials with just a hint of fancy dress.
The layered look is still with us, but Mackenzie hadn't tried the short-over-lon,g sleeve idea before. He took to it before you could say: "Abracadabra". Judy, however, was comparatively cool in pink and purple with wedge-heeled shoes in wine-coloured suede.
As you can see, they are all clothes with their own stylish vitality - to match the personalities of their wearers. Do they cast a spell on you?
